Laspa Fellowship

The Laspa Fellowship is a prestigious program that offers returning students specific leadership training and workshops designed around the center’s six core leadership competencies and a signature capstone presentation. The program provides a unique opportunity for student employees to build their leadership development profile and prepare to undertake leadership roles in their public and private lives.

Learning Outcomes

Participants in the Laspa Fellowship program will:

  • Explore leadership styles and better understand their own leadership strengths and weaknesses to employ personally, and in their social and academic environments
  • Be able to identify leadership traits that inform communication styles and organizational dynamics
  • Gather divers perspectives through discussions with staff, peers, and community leaders that allow them to explore leadership in action
  • Discover leadership opportunities that help them acquire skills that promote self-reflection, networking, conflict negotiation, and positive change


All returning Scripps students in good academic standing with a demonstrated commitment to leadership development and personal growth are eligible to participate. Applicants must be able and willing to work on-campus for a full academic year.*

*Due to the continued spread of the Coronavirus, the 2020 Laspa Fellowship will be held virtually and students will not be required to hold a current student employment position to participate.

To Apply

Interested students can submit a resume and 1-2 page statement of interest demonstrating their individual commitment to leadership development and personal growth to by September 15. Include name, class year, home city/state/country, and major.

Priority will be given to students who come recommended by faculty or staff. All applicants will be notified by September 20.
