President Tiedens Appoints Harvey Interim Vice President for Institutional Advancement

Scripps College President Lara Tiedens announced to the community on September 7, 2017, that Binti Harvey, who currently serves as vice president for Marketing and Communications, will fill the role as interim vice president for Institutional Advancement. This news follows Archibald’s announced departure, effective October 12, 2017. Tiedens commends Harvey for her collaborative work with Scripps campus partners:

Dear Members of the Scripps College Community,

With the upcoming departure of vice president for institutional advancement Michael Archibald, I have asked Binti Harvey to fill the role of interim vice president for Institutional Advancement, effective October 12, 2017. I am pleased that Binti has accepted this interim role, and I have every confidence in her ability to provide continuity and attentive leadership as she sees the campaign to its fruition and oversees the day-to-day activities of the Institutional Advancement and Marketing and Communications teams.

Since joining the College, she has established an ongoing partnership with Institutional Advancement, providing strategic council on publications, events, and other fundraising priorities. Binti has spearheaded many crucial projects and initiatives, including expanding the College’s digital presence, launching Scripps Presents, and partnering with Admission on the recent Live Courageously admissions campaign. Binti has been acknowledged by her colleagues for bringing a strategic and thoughtful approach to communications and marketing across the College. Binti’s extensive experience in higher education includes strong management and leadership roles, crisis management, and community outreach.

A national search will be launched for a new vice president for Institutional Advancement. During the search process, I feel confident that Binti will provide forward momentum and vision to both divisions.

I know you will join me in congratulating Binti on her expanded role as interim vice president for Institutional Advancement.

Sincerely,

Lara Tiedens

President
