Scripps College invites its entire community participate in GivingTuesday by making a gift to The Scripps Fund! As an incentive to join in early this year, several donors will match 2:1 all gifts made before November 29, and gifts made on GivingTuesday itself will be matched 1:1 up to $35,000.

As part of the match, President Suzanne Keen has also committed $5,000 as a special giving challenge for alums of the last 15 years. The College’s goal is to reach 300 gifts by November 29 on its GivingTuesday campaign site at scrippscollege.edu/givingtuesday.

“A gift to The Scripps Fund does more than just ‘help the College.’ You’re also affecting the communities where our students become lawyers and artists, educators and scientists, advocates and policymakers—their impact on others is incalculable,” says Karina Chappell, director of leadership annual giving and The Scripps Fund. “Your donation on GivingTuesday effectively supports many causes through a single gift.”

Gifts to The Scripps Fund Impact 100 Percent of Students

Created in 2012, GivingTuesday is a global generosity event held on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving. Donors can counter the pressures of Black Friday and Cyber Monday buys by supporting organizations that are making a positive difference in the world.

For donors looking for the most direct way to help students, Chappell explains, a gift to The Scripps Fund is the best route.

“Gifts here help cover the gap between tuition and the full cost of a Scripps education,” she says, with The Scripps Fund helping to provide scholarships to more than half of Scripps’ students, hundreds of internship grants, and funding for mental health programs, sustainability projects, upgrades and maintenance to campus buildings and grounds, and more.

Chappell adds that donors can give on the GivingTuesday campaign website and see their donations matched in real time. They can also create fundraising challenges of their own to encourage other members of the Scripps community to give to any area that’s meaningful to them.

“GivingTuesday is about the good we can achieve when everyone joins in, in whatever way they’re able,” she says. “No matter what you give, this is a great chance to make a big collective impact.”

Scripps’ GivingTuesday campaign is live now at scrippscollege.edu/givingtuesday! Make your gift before or on November 29, 2022, to see it matched.
