Latin American and Caribbean Studies

This is an interdisciplinary major that draws on the exceptional offerings of The Claremont Colleges, including the relevant courses of the Scripps faculty listed above, and many more across the 5Cs. Students interested in the major or minor should first contact the program coordinator, Professor Cindy Forster, for assistance in choosing an academic adviser who will assist the student in selecting a course of study. Study abroad is strongly encouraged for the major, but not required. Some students elect to spend two semester abroad in different countries in the Caribbean and Latin America. Study abroad courses in this hemisphere for which the student receives credit may satisfy requirements in the major if they address Latin America and the Caribbean.
