LANGUAGE PLACEMENT EXAMS

Language placement exams are for students who have had experience with and/or formal instruction in languages other than English. In collaboration with Claremont McKenna College and Pomona College, Scripps students may take one or more language placement exams in the following languages: Arabic, Chinese, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Latin, Portuguese, Russian, and Spanish.

Placement exams allow you and your advisor to determine which course you should be placed into. While the exams do not provide course credit, they may satisfy the general education requirements for math and foreign language. In addition to the placement exam, foreign language requires a subsequent proficiency test administered by foreign language faculty to satisfy the general education requirement.
