By Kendra Pintor

Scripps College invites its entire community participate in GivingTuesday by making a gift to The Scripps Fund/Parent Fund! Thanks to the generosity of an anonymous donor, gifts to scholarship aid made before GivingTuesday on November 28 will be matched 1:1 up to $10,000. The College’s goal is to reach 350 donors by the end of GivingTuesday.

Progress can be tracked via the campaign site at scrippscollege.edu/givingtuesday.

Why Scholarship Aid Matters

Sophie Fron ’22

Sophie Fron '22

From the outside, Sophie Fron ’22’s academic path reflects what Scripps is known for: an intimate college experience rooted in the liberal arts. Attracted to a major in humanities in interdisciplinary studies in culture, Sophie took it a step further by adding a major in art—a decision that helped her garner the Ament Scholars Award. The award, which recognizes an outstanding humanities student, was founded in honor of William Sheffield Ament, professor of English and a member of the original faculty of Scripps College.

“I’ve put in so much hard work, and I didn’t really know if anyone noticed. The recognition from the Ament Scholars Award itself is quite beautiful and shows I wasn’t just putting it in for no reason,” Sophie says.

Scholarships allow students, no matter their interests, to chart their own path at Scripps. Read more about Sophie’s journey and learn more about scholarship recipients at Scripps by visiting our website.

Gifts to The Scripps Fund Impact 100 Percent of Students

GivingTuesday was created in 2012 as a global generosity event. Held on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving, advocates for change can counter the pressures of Black Friday and Cyber Monday buys by supporting organizations that are making a positive difference in the world.

Every year, Scripps College participates in GivingTuesday, encouraging members of the community to give to The Scripps Fund/Parent Fund, which directly impacts 100 percent of the student body by providing aid to the areas of greatest need for all our scholars.

Donors can give on the GivingTuesday campaign website and see their donations matched in real time. They can also create fundraising challenges of their own to encourage other members of the Scripps community to give to any area that’s meaningful to them.

Scripps’ GivingTuesday campaign is live now at scrippscollege.edu/givingtuesday! Make your gift before November 28, 2023, to see it matched.
