Move-In Day

More details will be shared with the parents and families of incoming students as we enter August, but for now here are some important things to note:

• Move-In Day (8/25) is also the first day of New Student Programs & Orientation (NSPO).
• NCAA fall athletes and students participating in a pre-orientation program may have earlier move-in dates. In these cases, instructions will be shared with students from sponsoring offices.
• Programming for parents and families ends with the Family Farewell Reception on Tuesday, August 25 from 4:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Thereafter, students will be engaged in student-only orientation programming until the semester begins.
• Your student’s assigned arrival time for move-in day will be available on their housing portal the week of August 3. Make sure you plan for your specific assigned time to ensure a smooth move-in process.
• Parents for incoming students who moved in early are welcome to join for the activities on Tuesday, August 25 if still in the area.

SCHEDULE: Tuesday, August 25 

• 8 a.m.—12 p.m.
  • DRIVE UP MOVE-IN
  • Students are assigned arrival times in their housing portal. Make sure you plan for your specific assigned time to ensure a smooth move-in process.
• 9 a.m.—12:30 p.m.
  • RESOURCE FAIR
  • Offices and programs at the resource fair include: Parent Engagement, Tiernan Field House, Student Health Services, MCAPS, CP&R, Laspa, AARS, SCORE, Queer Resource Center, OBSA, Honnold Library, and more.
• 10 a.m.—4:30 p.m.
  • FAMILY PHOTO BOOTH
  • This will be a day to remember! Make sure you capture it. Come take a photo as a family outside the iconic ivy-covered windows of Balch Hall.
• 10 a.m.—4:30 p.m.
  • WRITE A LETTER TO YOUR STUDENT
  • Plan to stop by Seal Court to write a note to your student. Leave it with us. In the first few weeks of the semester, we’ll place it in your student’s mailbox. Surprise them with words of encouragement and support as they settle into Scripps!

  • This event marks the end of programming for parents and families on move-in day. We’ll toast them, say our goodbyes for now and send them off for student-only orientation programming until the semester begins.
