Announcement of Adrienne Gibson as APESF Executive Director

  • Giving News

adrienne-gibsonMichael Archibald, Vice President for Institutional Advancement, has announced that Adrienne Walsh Gibson ’02 has been promoted to the position of Executive Director of Alumnae and Parent Engagement, The Scripps Fund/Executive Director of Alumnae Relations, effective December 1.

Says Archibald, “Adrienne’s 12 years of progressively increased responsibility in Institutional Advancement at Scripps College make her uniquely qualified to assume these responsibilities. The breadth of her work in alumnae relations, annual giving, and planned giving equip her with the background necessary to work effectively with alumnae and parents in all aspects of their relationships with the College, and to lead her team to do the same.”

Gibson worked at Scripps in The Annual Fund from 2005-2007, Alumnae Relations from 2008-2012, served as Interim Annual Fund Director from 2012-2013, and in Planned Giving from 2013 to the present.

Gibson’s leadership as co-chair of the 2016 Ad Hoc Committee on alumnae participation and engagement, guiding a committee of 22 alumnae proposing solutions to a declining number of alumnae donors in the last decade at Scripps, will inform her leadership as she develops strategies to more effectively communicate and engage with alumnae in the future.

“I could not be more pleased with the outcome of our search for a new alumnae relations leader, who will also lead our broader alumnae and parent engagement and annual giving fundraising efforts. Adrienne’s breadth of experience and familiarity with the alumnae culture, and the familiarity and support alumnae feel for Adrienne, ensure that she is well positioned for success in this critical role,” says Archibald.

“It is an honor and a privilege to assume this awesome responsibility for my alma mater. I have been fortunate to have been awarded so many career opportunities at Scripps that have equipped me for this role, and with our passionate and talented alumnae as advocates, the possibilities for Scripps College are limitless. I’m excited to lead the efforts and collaborate with many of you as we engage with alumnae and parents for the mutual benefit of the College,” says Gibson.
