Each spring, Scripps College welcomes committed and prospective students to campus for Admitted Student Day: an exciting slate of activities, community-building, panels, mock classes, and more.
This past April, over 500 attendees got to enjoy aspects of college life, including the opportunity to visit residence halls, meet with senior administrators, engage with key campus resources, and connect with current students.
The day started with a welcome breakfast before multiple breakout sections focused on student experience and a session just for families. After lunch, attendees toured campus amenities like Tiernan Field House, Scripps’ hub for holistic wellness, and participated in a scavenger hunt around the grounds.
Attendees also could choose to attend mock classes like Medicinal Chemistry: A History of Pharmaceuticals (natural science) or Reading the Bible like a Feminist (religious studies), take tours, and explore options to take their college studies beyond California at the Study Abroad and Global Education office.

“In addition to Admitted Student Day, the Office of Admission hosts other in-person and digital programming to give prospective students a taste of campus life,” says Jacci Yin, associate director of admissions. “That includes half-day programs, Explore Scripps, and DIVE Into Scripps, an overnight program designed for students from historically underrepresented backgrounds.”
A Scripps experience wouldn’t be complete without the College’s traditional Wednesday tea, a fair for student clubs and organizations (CLORGs), the chance to grab official and student-designed Scripps merchandise, and an inspiring welcome from Scripps’ president.

“We hope that you will get a better understanding of who the people are, what the campus offers, and what the experience is to determine whether Scripps will facilitate your college goals,” President Amy Marcus-Newhall said in her remarks to attendees. “Our aim is to help equip you to make a choice that reflects your values and priorities.”
