Local LA residents can view award-winning sculpture and painter Alison Saar ’78’s work as part of a new exhibition starting February 15 through June 14 to celebrate the LA Louver’s 50th Anniversary.
The gallery, which opened in 1975, is one of the longest-established contemporary art galleries on the West Coast.
The exhibition will take place across all spaces of the gallery, which sits in the same block as the original 1970s location. Find more about the celebration here.
This is not the first time Saar’s work has been part of a commemorative installation. Saar’s sculpture, To Sit A While, was unveiled in Chicago’s Polk Bros Park at Navy Pier last August after a two-year national tour. The sculpture honors Lorraine Hansberry and encourages viewers to pause and reflect by sitting on the installation itself.
