The ranking was formed through a metrics analysis of multiple factors including academic excellence, affordability, success outcomes, and various comprehensive data sources including Peterson’s database and the College Scoreboard database.

The estate of Elizabeth Rosemary Plane Sage ’44, who passed at the remarkable age of 100, established the Elizabeth Rosemary Plane Sage Trust Art Fund with a bequest of $1.1 million, ensuring enduring support for Scripps’ Department of Art and its students.
