Featured in both ArtRabbit and Artillery, The Ruth Chandler Williamson Gallery is set to open its 81st Ceramic Annual on February 7th. Means to an End was guest curated by ceramic artist Reniel Del Rosario. It features the works of fourteen artists who integrate ceramics into broader artistic approaches. Del Rosario highlights the enduring relevance of ceramic practice in contemporary art.
“I wanted to curate a Ceramic Annual that feels distinctly nontraditional,” says Del Rosario. “The artists in Means to an End work in ceramics almost by coincidence—there are many other ways they could create their objects. But there is this innate pull, an adoration of ceramics, that makes them utilize the material. It is one of the most exciting and flexible materials to work with.”
The Ruth Chandler Williamson Gallery is free to the public and open from Wednesday to Sunday between noon and 5 p.m. The opening reception for Means to an End, which will run until April 5th of this year, will be held on February 7th from 7 to 9 p.m. at the gallery, where there will be live music and refreshments.
