Malott Mask Update

October 14, 2022

Dear Scripps Community,

In the past several weeks, Los Angeles County Department of Public Health (LACDPH) has reported that the County is in a “low” COVID-19 transmission designation. LACDPH’s updated masking policy also no longer requires masking in food and beverage facilities.

Currently, Scripps is the only 5C that requires masks in its dining hall. Given the current low number of positive cases at the College, The Claremont Colleges, and in Los Angeles County, we are removing the mask mandate in Malott Commons and adopting a mask recommendation. While masks will no longer be required to enter the facility, we recommend masking while in the servery area. New signage will be posted that reflects this change.

Scripps will continue to be responsive to changes in COVID transmission across The Claremont Colleges and follow the current guidelines and requirements of local and state agencies to remain operating safely.

As we continue to monitor the COVID-19 pandemic, please know that information will be shared with you as it becomes available. For more information about Scripps College COVID-19 policies and protocol, you can visit Scripps Strong.

Be Well,
