Housing at Scripps
Welcome Home!
The residential experience is one of the cornerstones of life at Scripps, and the campus will become your foundation for belonging, community, and personal growth. We’re excited to help you settle into your new home at Scripps. Here’s what you need to know:
Important Updates
- All housing communications will be sent to your Scripps email account, including guidance on how to access and complete your application in the housing portal.
- June 4: Housing application opens
You will receive access to the Student Housing Portal to complete your housing application - June 19: Housing application due
Your responses help us thoughtfully match you with roommates who share your preferences. - July 15: Deadline to complete required Claremont Colleges Student Health Services (SHS) health forms.
You will receive forms directly from SHS. If not completed by July 15, you may not receive access to your residence hall on move-in day. - Mid-July: Housing assignments announced
- During New Student Programs and Orientation (NSPO) you will learn more about student resources, academics, campus life, and meet other new students as you begin your college experience at Scripps.
- Please check your email regularly for more information about your housing selection and the new student orientation program.
Note: Students needing housing accommodations may have an earlier deadline. All deadlines will be shared by June 1.
Your Room Awaits
First-year students will likely be assigned to triple rooms with two roommates. Each student room includes everything you need to live and study comfortably (one of each for each student):
- Twin XL bed with mattress
- Desk, chair, and floor lamp
- Two-drawer dresser
- Closet or armoire
Each residence hall features a shared kitchen with a stove, refrigerator, and microwave—perfect for late-night snacks or cooking with friends.
Laundry Made Easy
Every hall has washers ($1.00 per load) and dryers ($0.50 per load) that use Claremont Cash loaded onto your student ID.
Good to Know
- A complete packing list with tips on what to bring (and leave at home) will be available by June 1.
- Leave your car at home! First-year students cannot have cars on campus unless approved for special circumstances.
- Housing closes during winter and summer breaks—plan ahead for these times away.
