The Office of Accommodations and Academic Resource Services at Scripps College provides foreign language substitution for students registered with the office that are deemed eligible to receive the accommodation. The process for students is listed below.
Steps for Requesting a Language Substitution Due to Disability
Request Accommodation from AARS
AARS will either approve or deny the accommodation request.
If approved by ARS
AARS will inform the student that they must take 3 courses within the same cultural context (language).
The student can choose from Scripps-offered languages: German, Latin, French, Italian, or Spanish. Please see the lists of courses provided below.
Students whose disability interferes with learning a foreign language, should take three of the following approved courses in the cultural context of Modern Languages taught at Scripps (taught in English) in lieu of the language requirement.
