Public Humanities January 1, 2020 Update

  • Fall 2019 clinic: Professor Marino Forlino delivered the first clinic, “Foreign Language and Culture,” in collaboration with Chaparral Elementary.
  • Fall 2019 workshops: “Community Based Learning Across the Disciplines” and “A nuts-and-bolts session on crafting courses” with Professors Kassam (Pomona College) and Petersen (Pitzer College).
  • Spring 2020 clinics: Professor Martha González, “Artivistas in the Americas,” in collaboration with Alliance for California Traditional Arts (ACTA) and Boyle Heights Arts Conservatory (BHAC); Professor Martha Bárcenas-Mooradian, “Cultural Competence in the Health Professions,” in partnership with CLEAR (PEOC), Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center, Park West High School, and Huerta del Valle.
  • Continued networking opportunities and scholarly opportunities for research—as well as best practices and models for community engagement—are being supported for faculty, staff, and students in partnership with Campus Compact.
