July 17 – August 11, 2023
- Introductory Biology (43L): This course explores life at the molecular and cellular level as an introduction to the cellular processes and gene expression patterns that underlie organismal physiology and evolution through lectures, discussion, and laboratory exercises. Topics include cell and molecular biology, genetics and biochemistry. The weekly schedule includes daily lectures, laboratory, and a weekly exam.
1st semester: May 23- June 15, 2023
2nd semester: June 19 – July 13, 2023
- Basic Principles of Chemistry (14L &15L): This two-course sequence provides an overview of the structure of matter and the principles of chemical reactions. Topics include atomic and molecular structure, chemical bonding, thermodynamics, equilibria, electrochemistry, kinetics, descriptive inorganic and organic chemistry and spectroscopy. The weekly schedule includes daily lectures, laboratory, and a weekly exam.
Seamus Vahey Scripps Postbac '22
“I was so happy at Scripps, and it really helped facilitate taking these next steps in my career. Getting to start off with Dr. Salt over the summer in chemistry is such a joy, and makes getting back into STEM coursework really approachable.”
Classes take place at the W.M. Keck Science Center at the Claremont Colleges. Completion of these courses allows students to enter upper division chemistry, physics and biology courses, as well as meet a premedical requirement. These intensive course sequences are open to approximately 24 students per course and will be comprised of Claremont College undergraduates, other undergraduate students, and post-baccalaureate students.
The tuition for Summer 2021 is $2,500 for one semester and $5,000 for two semesters.
Please note that we will accept students on a rolling basis, so the class may fill before the application deadline. **Please note the minimum enrollment for each class is 6 students. If the minimum is not met, the class may be cancelled.
Summer applications are now open.
