2024

July 15 – August 9, 2024

  • Introductory Biology (43L): This course explores life at the molecular and cellular level as an introduction to the cellular processes and gene expression patterns that underlie organismal physiology and evolution through lectures, discussion, and laboratory exercises. Topics include cell and molecular biology, genetics and biochemistry. The weekly schedule includes daily lectures, laboratory, and a weekly exam.

Chemistry

2024

1st semester: May 21- June 14, 2024
2nd semester: June 17 – July 11, 2024

  • Basic Principles of Chemistry (14L &15L): This two-course sequence provides an overview of the structure of matter and the principles of chemical reactions. Topics include atomic and molecular structure, chemical bonding, thermodynamics, equilibria, electrochemistry, kinetics, descriptive inorganic and organic chemistry and spectroscopy. The weekly schedule includes daily lectures, laboratory, and a weekly exam.

Additional Information

Location

Classes take place at the W.M. Keck Science Center at the Claremont Colleges. Completion of these courses allows students to enter upper division chemistry, physics and biology courses, as well as meet a premedical requirement. These intensive course sequences are open to approximately 24 students per course and will be comprised of Claremont College undergraduates, other undergraduate students, and post-baccalaureate students.

Tuition

The tuition for Summer 2023 is $2,500 for one semester and $5,000 for two semesters.

Deadline

Please note that we will accept students on a rolling basis, so the class may fill before the application deadline. **Please note the minimum enrollment for each class is 6 students. If the minimum is not met, the class may be cancelled.
