Scripps College is pleased to present the acclaimed Cypress String Quartet performing on Sunday, September 16, 3:00 p.m., at Balch Auditorium, 10th and Columbia, Claremont. As part of the 2001 Bessie Bartlett Frankel Festival of Chamber Music, the Cypress String Quartet will be performing works by Haydn, Britten and Ravel. The event is free and open to the public.
Based in San Francisco, the Cypress String Quartet has been praised by the Los Angeles Times for their "…musical astuteness and virtuoso resources." Featured in Chamber Music Magazine as a "Generation X ensemble to watch," the Quartet (Cecily Ward and Tom Stone, violins; Ethan Filner, viola; Jennifer Kloetzel, cello) has performed to growing acclaim throughout the world.
