Renowned Professor to Kick Off European Union Center of California’s Spring 2004 Lecture Series

The European Union Center of California presents distinguished professor Dr. Russ Dalton on Thursday, January 22, at 4:15 p.m. Dr. Dalton will speak on “Democratic Challenges, Democratic Choices: The Erosion in Political Support in Advanced Industrial Democracies,” in the Hampton Room of the Malott Commons, located on the Scripps College campus. Currently a professor in the Department of Political Science at the University of California, Irvine, Dr. Russ Dalton directs the university’s Center for the Study of Democracy. He has authored several books, including his most current, Democratic Challenges, Democratic Choices: The Erosion in Political Support in Advanced Industrial Democracies. Dr. Dalton has also been published in prominent journals including Journal of Democracy, American Political Science Review, Journal of Politics, and Comparative Political Studies, among others. He has also held teaching positions at Florida State University and the University of Michigan.

Dalton received his B.A. from the University of California, Los Angeles, and earned his M.A. and Ph.D. from the University of Michigan.
