Professor of Art Ken Gonzales-Day Named 2017 Guggenheim Fellow

Ken Gonzales-Day has won a prestigious Guggenheim Fellowship for 2017.  Announcement of Gonzales-Day’s inclusion in the diverse group of 173 scholars, artists, and scientists from the U.S. and Canada selected for the fellowships was made Friday by the John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Foundation. The news was featured in ArtNews, Art Forum, and other media throughout the U.S. 

Each recipient will receive a $50,000 award to support his or her work. Guggenheim Fellowships are grants that have been awarded annually since 1925 by the John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Foundation to those who have demonstrated exceptional capacity for productive scholarship or exceptional creative ability in the arts. Honorees were chosen from a group of almost 3,000 applicants in the organization’s 93rd competition.
