Scripps College’s NEW Hall which opened last fall will dedicate its entry court in the fall in a naming ceremony that will honor Scripps benefactor Joanna Dunklee, a 1962 graduate of the women’s college who recently donated $1 million to the College’s endowment fund.   Dunklee was affectionately dubbed “Professor of the Library” at Cal State Dominguez Hills during her 38 years of service there as the university’s librarian. She cites her love for learning and gratitude to her undergraduate alma mater in her generous gift of real estate that will support Scripps College’s educational mission, and scholarships to students. “I’ve seen a number of examples of women paying it forward,” says Dunklee. “Women giving back and supporting one another is valuable.” A scholarship recipient while at Scripps, Dunklee acknowledged that she never imagined being able to give back like this. Dunklee received a Faculty Award for Honor Research and Service in 2007 at Cal State.
