In the Media: Hannah-Beth Jackson ’71 Authors Successful California Senate Bills Addressing Equity and Sexual Harassment Issues

California Senator Hannah-Beth Jackson ’71 continues to provide leadership in Sacramento as senate bills she authored and guided successfully on the Senate floor now make their way to the Assembly to combat sexual harassment in the workplace (SB1300), to ensure equal pay (SB1284), and to address gender gaps on public corporate boards (SB 826). Bloomberg reported on bill 826, which passed on May 31 with a 22-11 vote. Under the initiative, California-based companies that lack women on their boards would need to add at least one woman, and would make California the first state in the nation with such a requirement. In addition, Jackson was named a “Woman of Achievement 2018″ by the Association of Women in Communications recently and was quoted in a U.S. News & World Report article about creating a future law to help citizens deal with natural disasters and insurance policies.
