Matt LogelinMatt Logelin, author of “Two Kisses for Maddy: A Memoir of Loss & Love,” reads from his book on Monday, April 18, at 4:15pm in Scripps College’s Hampton Room. This event, which includes a book signing following the reading, is free and open to the public.

Logelin’s heartbreaking and heartwarming memoir tells the story of his courtship of Scripps alumna Liz Logelin ’00 and the birth of their daughter Madeline. High school sweethearts, Matt and Liz had an ideal life: perfect marriage, beautiful home in Los Angeles, and a newborn daughter. But less than 48 hours after Madeline was born, Liz suffered a pulmonary embolism and died instantly, never holding the daughter whose arrival she so eagerly awaited.

A book “that combines the deep sadness of loss with the joys of parenthood even under incredibly trying circumstances,” “Two Kisses for Maddy” chronicles Matt’s journey from the joys of fatherhood to the devastation of losing his wife and how he faced the situation head-on to make a life for his daughter. To follow Matt’s journey with Maddy, visit his website at www.mattlogelin.com; books will be available for purchase at the event.

This event is presented by the Malott Commons Office. Doors open at 4:00 and dessert and coffee are provided. The Hampton Room is located above the Malott Commons Dining Hall on 9th Street and Columbia Avenue; for more information, contact the Malott Commons Office at (909) 607-9372.
