A Girl’s Gotta Do What A Girl’s Gotta Do: National Safety Expert Addresses Safety Strategies for Women

Author, journalist and motivational speaker, Kathleen Baty, will speak about women’s safety and her book, A Girl’s Gotta Do What A Girl’s Gotta Do: The Ultimate Guide to Living Safe and Smart (2003), on April 13, at 7:30 p.m. in the Hampton Room of the Malott Commons, located on the Scripps College campus. The lecture is part of the Alexa Fullerton Hampton Series, “Trailblazers,” at Scripps College. This lecture is free and open to the public. Baty is the President and CEO of SafetyChick Enterprises. The company is committed to providing workshops, and seminars on safety, and to offering personal safety products, including the SafetyChick Kit. Baty speaks across the country at law enforcement agencies, women’s groups, and legislative bodies to develop consciousness of safety issues. Working with congressman Ed Royce, Baty impacted the development of the first national anti-stalking law.

Baty has been a featured guest on shows including, Today, Larry King Live, Good Morning America, and ABC World News Tonight. Her products and books have appeared in People, Time, Glamour, Redbook, Women’s Day, and USA Today. Most recently, Baty has appeared as a host on Fox television’s hit show, America’s Most Wanted with John Walsh.

She has also appeared at the National Association of Threat Assessment Professional Conference, along with congressman Ed Royce, and former Los Angeles Police Chief Willie Williams. Baty assisted in developing the first stalking online course on stalking for law enforcement agencies, and has spoken at the Los Angeles SWAT yearly training seminar.
