75th Anniversary Event: Women in Landscape Symposium

A Women in the Landscape symposium will be held on Saturday, September 22 at Scripps College. Events include alumnae presentations on public and private landscape design projects from 1:30 until 3:00 in the Humanities Auditorium; a panel discussion on landscape design careers from 3:30 to 4:30 in the Humanities Auditorium; an opening reception for the exhibition Personal Edens: The Gardens and Film Sets of Florence Yoch from 4:30 to 6:00 in the Clark Humanities Museum; and, at 5:00, a gallery lecture by Eric T. Haskell, professor of French, director of the Clark Humanities Museum and co-curator of the exhibition.

Alumnae presenters include: Ruth Anderson May ’40, a prairies preservationist and wildflower illustrator from Dallas, TX; Regula Campbell ’69, an architect and landscape designer from Santa Barbara, CA; Mary Swanson ’79, a landscape architect from San Francisco, CA; and Kristen Lohse ’89, a landscape architect from Seattle, WA. A tea will be held in the Margaret Fowler Garden from 3:00 until 3:30, followed by the panel discussion on careers in landscape design and environmental preservation moderated by Tina Lee ’83, an environmentalist from Tucson, AZ. These events are free and open to the public.
