Poet Lynne Thompson ’72 read a selection of poems from her critically acclaimed book Blue on a Blue Palette and answered student questions at Long Beach City College (LBCC) this spring.
Coordinated by LBCC’s Professor of English Jeff Epley and sponsored by LBCC Library Learning Resources, Thompson’s visit to campus was part of the Writers Reading Series, which takes place twice a semester at the college.
The college’s student newspaper, Viking News, recapped the event saying Thompson shared her career transition from being a lawyer to working as a poet and how poetry was a part of her life from a young age because her father read poetry to her when she was a child.
Thompson served as the fourth Los Angeles Poet Laureate, was an Academy of American Poetry Poet Laureate Fellowship recipient, and has served on Scripps College’s Board of Trustees.
