The Los Angeles Daily News interviewed former congressmember Gabby Giffords ’93, who served as the grand marshal of this year’s Rose Parade. “The Rose Parade has such an amazing history and this year’s theme, ‘turning the corner,’ resonates deeply with me,” Giffords told the Daily News. “I’ve tried to embody the philosophy of moving ahead since I began my recovery nearly 12 years ago after being shot. I’ve also adopted this mantra in the fight for gun violence prevention that has become my life’s work. It was amazing to come together with people from across the United States yesterday to celebrate the new year and our collective ‘turning the corner’.”
