CNN Films is developing a documentary about former Congresswoman Gabby Giffords ’93, Variety and Deadline report. Gabby Giffords Won’t Back Down follows Giffords’ advocacy for gun violence prevention after a 2011 assassination attempt. The film is the latest venture from directors Betsy West and Julie Cohen, who were nominated for an Oscar for RGB, their documentary about the life of Ruth Bader Ginsberg. West and Cohen call Giffords “the hardworking, dragon-slaying, 80’s hits-singing, recumbent bike-riding hero we all need right now. We can’t wait for audiences to fall in love with her as much as we have.”
