Ella Strong Denison LibraryCarolann Jane Duro ’20 has been featured in Business Insider following Quiet Quail Books receiving a 2025 Global Recognition Award for expanding access to Indigenous-authored literature in San Bernardino.
“Quiet Quail Books shows how careful attention to community needs, paired with steady and practical creativity, can lead to significant social impact,” Alex Sterling, spokesperson for Global Recognition Awards, said in a press release recognizing the bookstore’s innovative and community-centered model.
Founded by Duro shortly after graduating from Scripps College, Quiet Quail Books uses mobile pop-ups, consignment shelves, and a hybrid community space to bring Indigenous voices directly into neighborhoods historically underserved by traditional book retail.
