Here are just some of the accomplishments by the newest group of Scripps students:

They speak 28 different languages (one alone speaks six), formed or participated in more than 300 different clubs and organizations, and hail from eight different countries. The Class of 2016 has also traveled the world; 59 different countries are stamped on their collective passport, including Nigeria, Thailand, Argentina, and Iceland.

Twenty-five incoming students are the first in their family to attend college.

Athletics

In addition to the MVPs, the class of 2016 excels athletically in 44 team and individual sports:

  • Soccer,
  • Wrestling,
  • Badmitton,
  • Horesback riding,
  • Nordic skiing,
  • Sailing,
  • Squash,
  • Rugby,
  • Figure skating, and
  • Circus stunting

Our newest students also have:

  • learned taiko drumming,
  • worked as a freelance photographer,
  • started their own jewelry company,
  • made laser light shows for The House of Floyd, a Pink Floyd tribute band,
  • ran 27,650 laps around their block back home,
  • flown planes,
  • applied to an English boarding school at age 11 without telling her parents — and attended the school for three years, and
  • raised $20,000 for the Homeward Bound chapter she founded in her neighborhood!
