I AM THAT GIRL: Scripps College

“I AM THAT GIRL: Scripps College is the local chapter of a worldwide movement that aims to inspire women by encouraging them to embrace who they are and by advocating in favor of healthy media content for and by women. Our campus chapter is a space for collaboration, conversation and creation. We meet weekly to talk about life, as well as, planning and executing several media projects, including events that promote media literacy. In an effort to foster positivity and community building on campus, we set up a pop-up video booth in Seal Court where students could compliment someone in their life and broadcast it to the world,” says Laurel Schwartz ’15, president and founder of the Scripps College I Am That Girl chapter.

I AM THAT GIRL hosted the “Pop-Up Video Booth” on September 26 so that students could celebrate the amazing women in their lives. More than 50 students participated in the event and the video accumulated more than 700 views in just four days!
