February 2024 – Employee COVID-19 Update

  • Campus News

Dear Faculty and Staff,

As we progress through the spring semester, we want you to be assured that the COVID-19 Working Group is active and continues to prioritize the health and safety of the Scripps campus community. The working group convenes as necessary and regularly monitors COVID conditions in Los Angeles County and potential impact on our campus. Below is current information for Scripps employees and recent updates from the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health of Higher Education (LACDPH) and Cal/OSHA.

Scripps College COVID-19 Policy:

As a reminder to all Scripps employees, it is the College’s policy that if you are not feeling well, you should stay home to reduce any potential exposure to the community. The policy also requires you to immediately notify the Student Health Services (SHS) Contact Tracing Team if you test positive to COVID-19 using an at-home test or a test from your medical provider.

SHS Contact Tracing Team:
contact.tracers@claremont.edu
(909) 607-9995
Hours of operation: Mon – Sun 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. (closed 12 – 1 p.m.)

SHS will advise when you can return to campus and perform the Cal-OSHA required contract tracing. We recommend saving their contact information for any future need.

Updates from LACDPH and Cal/OSHA:

Isolation Requirements:

A person may exit isolation once fever free (no fever-reducing medication) for 24 hours with no symptoms or mild symptoms that are improving; must continue to mask through day 10 (see exception below).

LACDPH recommends a negative test before exiting isolation (not a requirement).

Infectious Period:

Definition remains unchanged: 2 days prior to symptoms/positive test through day 10; note the first positive test/symptomatic onset is day zero.

Masking:

Required for 10 days when testing positive and/or symptomatic, anytime around other people (inside or outside).

Not required for close contacts (still recommended).

Contact Tracing:

Identification and notification remain a requirement for employees; recommended but not required for others.

Stay current on all COVID-19 updates from the College. You can also access the updates from Inside Scripps; scroll down to Campus Community Essentials and select COVID-19 Updates.

Please stay vigilant, prioritize your health, and continue to follow all recommended health practices.

Respectfully,

Sha Bradley
Vice President for Student Affairs and Dean of Students

Dean Calvo
Vice President for Business Affairs and Treasurer
