Professor Hao Huang Awarded KAMEN Residency for Composition and Ethnomusicology

Professor of Music and Bessie and Cecil Frankel Endowed Chair in Music Hao Huang has been awarded a KAMEN Artist Residency for his work as a composer and ethnomusicologist. Huang says his residency project “will combine scholarship, composition, and performance practice into an artistic event that will address issues of nationalist, racist, and supremacist violence,” similar in format to his October 2019 series of performances commemorating the Los Angeles Chinese Massacre of 1871. He plans to focus on Eastern European folk songs during his time at KAMEN, which is located in eastern Bosnia-Herzegovina.
