Part-Time Lecturer in German Studies, Fall 2026/Spring 2027

Scripps College, a women’s liberal arts college with a strong interdisciplinary tradition, invites applications for a non-tenure-track, part-time position as Visiting Lecturer to teach in the Department of German Studies for one year beginning July 1, 2026. The instructor will teach a 2-1 load, tentatively the candidate will be expected to teach one elementary and one intermediate German language courses as well as one upper division content course (literature, film, culture etc.) conducted in German. ABD required, Ph.D. preferred. We are looking for an individual with a strong commitment to undergraduate liberal arts education and to foreign language pedagogy.

The salary for this position will range from $25,380 to $28,200 and will be based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to internal equity, experience, education, specialty, and training. In light of recent federal updates to visa processing and associated costs, the College is generally not in a position to sponsor visas for faculty appointments.
