Student Only Workshop – Noor Hamdy

Understanding Refugee Resettlement and Integration in Pomona Valley

This workshop will provide a general understanding of how refugees are resettled in the Pomona Valley. Specific attention will be paid to understanding gaps in the public policy and social services for refugees and how local volunteers attempt to help aid refugees navigate these gaps in policy as well as social integration.

Noor Hamdy is a senior at Scripps working towards a dual major in Politics and Middle East & North African studies. Her thesis discusses the issue of refugee resettlement in the Pomona Valley and its relation to public policy, integration, and informal volunteer work.

This workshop is presented in partnership with the Dean of Students Office.
