Art Exhibit: “Elegant Motion: Japanese Prints of the Noh Theater”

The Scripps College Collections has more than 400 prints and images related to the Japanese noh theater. This exhibition surveys the works of several generations of artists in a single lineage: Tsukioka Yoshitoshi, his step-son Kogyo, Kogyo’s daughter Gyokusei, Kogyo’s disciple Matsuno Sofu and Sofu’s son Hideyo. Works by their competitors will also be included, so that some noh scenes are depicted by two or more artists.

This exhibit lasts until March 31.
