Giving Campaign How to Help

Scripps Forward Campaign: How to Help

Pop-up event at alums home

Our campaign volunteers are the lifeblood of the campaign and essential to its success! There are a multitude of ways the Scripps community can make an impact, including peer-to-peer outreach and social fundraising, serving on committees, hosting in-person and virtual events, recruiting volunteers, and sharing their resources and time. Throughout the campaign, we aim for volunteers to make 100,000 such touchpoints, combined.

Hosting Pop-Up Events

Imagine, create, and host local pop-up events that reflect the spirit of Scripps! Community-led activities build connection with the College’s network around the world. Examples of events include tea, happy hour, potlucks, picnics, museum tours, book clubs, trivia nights, letter-writing, hiking, etc.

Event Support

The Office of Institutional Engagement can help support your event in a variety of ways, including:

  • Send email invitations and event reminders to the Scripps community in your area
  • Manage the event registration process
  • Promote your event in Olive Grove, Scripps’ online network
  • Provide themes and event ideas for pop-up hosts
  • Provide data for those in your area
  • Mail a “Scripps-in-a-Box” kit to help “Scripps-ify” your event
  • In special cases, help subsidize event costs.

If you have an idea for a pop-up event or would like to host, let us know!

  • Share Key Posts Occasionally: Share key announcements or major events with a short caption, like “Exciting times at Scripps!” to promote important content.
  • One-Word Comments: Leave brief, positive comments like “Amazing!”, “Proud!”, or “Exciting!” under posts, keeping engagement quick but visible.
  • Tag Colleagues in Comments: Tag peers in the comments, noting “Thought you’d enjoy this,” to show connection and extend reach.
  • Quick Story Reposts: Share the Scripps stories on platforms like Instagram or LinkedIn with a brief reaction (e.g., a thumbs-up emoji or “Great initiative!”).
  • Hashtags: Use #ScrippsForward, #ScrippsCentennialCampaign, and#Scripps100
