Suchi Branfman – Dance

Professor Branfman performed “ROPE – An evening of intertwining dance and film about incarceration and freedom,” at the Miles Memorial Playhouse, Santa Monica, CA, February 2020.

She gave a guest artist workshop/lecture “Choreographing Women’s Stories” at the California Institution for Women, Chino, CA, March  2020.

Professor Branfman, in collaboration with  Ernst Fenelon Jr, Chris Rowan, Marc Antoni Charcas, presented “Undanced Dances Through Prison Walls During a Pandemic – An hour of readings of dances as imagined inside the CRC prison during spring 2020,” as the culmination of the project “Choreographing Our Stories” which  was abruptly ended in March 2020 due to Covid-19. The event was produced as a part of Jail Bed Drop Project at SOLA Contemporary Gallery, June 2020.

She was a recipient of a 2020 Claremont Colleges Diversity Teaching Award.
