Anne Harley – Music

Professor Harley prepared the Crossroads Inside Out Choir to sing alongside members of the choirs of the Joint Music Program in True Witness: A Civil Rights Cantata (which she commissioned for Scripps in 2013), conducted by Professor Charles Kamm. The True Witness concert program was performed at Scripps and then toured to Chaffey College, Rancho Cucamonga, CA, Fall 2019 and Spring 2020.

Professor Harley’s latest album of new music, Voices of the Pearl, Volume 3, was released for global digital distribution and submitted to the Grammys. The album represents the culmination of 4 years of work, commissioning, premiering, recording, and editing new compositions, setting texts by and about women spiritual leaders in the world’s traditions. Two of her recorded performances on that album, in new works by Karola Obermüller and Chinary Ung, were commissioned with support from two NEA ArtWorks grants, both of which enjoyed world premieres at Scripps in previous years, July 2020.

She was an invited panelist at the international Fitzmaurice Voicework Summit attended by over 2000 registrants, speaking about voice pedagogy, the singing voice, and its connection to Fitzmaurice Voicework (a voice training modality primarily for actors) in which she is certified as an Associate Teacher, August 2020.
