Scripps Presents Bryan Terrell Clark

Bryan Terrell Clark is an accomplished actor and singer/songwriter. He is a native of Baltimore, Maryland, a graduate of the Yale School of Drama and Temple University, and currently lives in Los Angeles, California. Best known for his role as George Washington in the record-breaking Broadway hit Hamilton, he made his Broadway debut playing the iconic role of Marvin Gaye in Motown: The Musical, which received a 2014 Grammy Award nomination for “Best Musical Theater Album,” and starred opposite Laurence Fishburne and Angela Bassett in the acclaimed drama Fences at the Pasadena Playhouse. Clark has also appeared in a wide range of popular television programming for various networks, including the award-winning Netflix mini-series When They See Us.

Bryan will be joined in conversation with Michelle Decker, Associate Professor of English in the Humanities at Scripps . Michelle’s academic focus is Eastern African Literatures (from Egypt to South Africa, 19th and 20th centuries), Poetry and Poetics, Postcolonial Literature and Theory, and Indian Ocean Literatures.
