Application Instructions

The European Union Center of California invites you to apply for the 2025 Claremont-UC Undergraduate Research Conference on the European Union through our online application forms. Participants should be undergraduate students pursuing training in and knowledge of the European Union and US-European relations.

Application Deadline: February 1, 2025 by 11:59 PM (PST)

Notification of acceptance will be sent by February 15, 2025.

Application Types

There are two types of application submissions available for this conference. If the paper to be submitted to the conference has one author, please click on the “Individual” link. If the paper to be submitted has more than one author, please click on the the “Group” link.

Components of the Application Form

Please answer all the questions. There are some areas of possible confusion.

  1. Faculty Mentor/Advisor – This can either be a professor for whom you have already written your paper for as part of a class paper or independent research project, or it can be a professor who is willing to act as your mentor in writing and reviewing your paper before attending the conference. Please note your professor is not required to accompany you to the conference.
  2. Relevant Course(s) & brief description – list any relevant courses you have taken or are currently taking to help you with your research. Provide a very brief description of the major topics covered by the course if the course title is not self-explanatory.
  3. Abstract – This should be a short description (200–350 words) of the paper that will be submitted. Please indicate what information the paper contains, include the purpose, methods, and scope of the paper, and introduce the subject to the reviewer.

Please note if your paper is accepted, you will be required to submit your full paper two weeks before the Conference. This will allow your panel moderator time to read your paper before the event. Papers should be approximately 10-15 pages.
