Local Area Lodging
All of The Claremont Colleges hold graduation on the same weekend, and accommodations fill up quickly. Please contact the hotel directly for reservations.
Parking at Scripps College
Parking is available for our guests in the following locations:
- Tiernan Field House/Alumnae Field underground parking garage (located on Mills Avenue)
- Street parking on 10th Street and 11th Street between Columbia Avenue and Dartmouth Avenue
- ADA parking spaces are available at the McAlister parking lot.

May 16: Commencement Ceremony
Time: 5-7 p.m.
Location: Elm Tree Lawn
Cost: Free (up to 7 guests per graduate)
- All guests must register for the ceremony; graduates do not need to register
- Each graduate is allowed to bring up to 7 guests.
- Seating begins at 3:30 p.m. and is available on a first come, first served basis.
- Guests who require ADA accommodations must request ADA seating during registration.

May 16: Commencement Dinner Dance
Time: 7:30-9:30 p.m.
Location: Jaqua Quadrangle
Cost: $40/ticket (up to five tickets per graduate)
- Graduates receive 2 complimentary guest tickets and may purchase up to 5 additional tickets at $40 each.
- Guests must register and purchase tickets for the dinner dance prior to the event. Tickets will not be sold at the event.
- When arriving, guests check in with their graduate’s name and receive a complimentary drink ticket (alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages available).
- Guests may not bring alcohol to the event.
- All guests are required to show a photo ID to receive an alcoholic beverage.

ADA Accommodations
- Guests who require ADA accommodations must request them during registration.
- A campus map with accessibility access will be provided upon confirmation.
- Commencement ceremony seating will be available for those who request ADA accommodations during registration.
- The college will provide ADA transportation from the McAlister parking lot to Elm Tree Lawn for the commencement ceremony.
- Guests must bring their own wheelchair or motorized vehicle.
- Balch Auditorium will be open for those who prefer to sit indoors. The building is air conditioned and wheelchair accessible. The ceremony will be displayed live on a large screen in the auditorium.
Graduate Portraits
Graduates who wish to have commencement portraits taken may make an appointment with a professional photographer.
Class Rings, Invitations, and Announcements
- Class Rings for purchase through Jostens, online only.
- Commencement announcements and diploma covers are ordered through Herff Jones.
- A link to order will be provided by Herff Jones soon.
Floral Arrangements and Leis
- Families and friends may purchase floral arrangements from local Claremont florist Sherwood Florist.
- The florist will be on campus the day of commencement to distribute pre orders and sell arrangements.
