Meet Melina ’25

Hi everybody! My name is Melina, and I am a second-year from Rancho Palos Verdes, California. I am a Media Studies major and a Biology minor. I first started seriously looking into the Claremont Colleges when I was a junior in high school- one of my best friends was looking to get recruited for softball and I had already begun my college search. I was immediately enamored with the consortium and everything it had to offer, but it was the beauty of Scripps that stood out to me. I remember walking around the schools with a few of my friends one summer and seeing the ivy crawling up the walls of the Margaret Fowler Garden to my left and the window that looked in on the ornate GJW Living Room to my right- by the time our little self-guided tour had ended, I had felt an undeniable connection to the campus. My weeks-long anxiety surrounding the impending doom of my senior year of high school had dissipated and it felt as though all of these previously-scrambled puzzle pieces were falling perfectly into place. I knew then that Claremont was going to be my new home. I saw a glimpse of the future- one that I now live out, even if I never exactly saw myself cutting bangs or becoming a morning showerer. Here at Scripps, I have had the pleasure of meeting some of the most incredible, kind, and intelligent individuals, and I wouldn’t have it any other way.

I’m overjoyed to begin my journey as an ambassador and to have the ability to connect with you all! If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out at [email protected].
