Meet Alyssa ’27

Hihi! I’m Alyssa, a second-year originally from El Monte, CA but then grew up in Socorro, NM, a tiny town (the main street is literally about 2 miles long) I call home. About 13 hours away now, I’d always wanted to experience being away or independent from my family. Very rarely do feelings of homesickness come, but when they do, the Scripps community stops nothing short of giving me that same homey feeling. The plan is to double (or dual) major in Politics and Art, along with a minor in Biology, all too potentially change in due time. When I’m not studying, I love to be in the ceramics studio or the Makerspace over at HMC, for long long periods… If I’m not in the studio you can catch me out with all of my friends at local and LA-based markets getting tattoos, thrifting fun clothes, or eating super delicious food. On campus, catch me at the Motley with an iced coffee and chocolate croissant in hand or sitting outside at Malott calling home! Being at the 5C’s is such a unique experience, one I never expected someone from a rural community like me to have. I hope it’s one you’d like to have and can explore as well! Always send any questions my way, [email protected].
