Life After Undergrad for a Scripps Student

Hi everyone! Thanks for stopping by. As a senior I thought it would be fitting to talk about the resources that Scripps provides students for life after undergrad. Don’t get me wrong, I am definitely one of the many who feel stressed and nervous to leave and experience life outside of the one that I have created inside Scripps and more broadly the Claremont Colleges. However, I am confident in the many experiences and roles that I’ve been able to take advantage of as a Scripps student that have prepared me with skills that flawlessly transition into the workforce and even grad schools! I also feel confident in the administrative support that I know I can receive from offices such as CP&R (our Career and Planning Resource Center) and through professors and staff who have become more like mentors to me. One of the great things about attending a liberal arts school like Scripps is the ability to be able to experience education through an interdisciplinary lens that creates strong analytical, writing, collaborative, and public speaking skills. Outside of the classroom students are able to take advantage of numerous opportunities within clubs, organizations, and jobs that allow them to explore and define what leadership means to them. Scripps students also often take on one of more internships during their time at Scripps whether that be during the school year or summer break. Offices such as CP&R function as a great point of contact to find those internships and help along the application process. I point to all of these experiences and resources to demonstrate the amount of valuable experiences that Scripps students take with them after their time within the institution. So whether students decide to go straight into the workforce or begin grad school right after, we all have an amazing toolbox filled with  experiences and relationships that we take with us from Scripps.
