Interdisciplinary Computational Programs January 1, 2020 Update

2019 Summer of Code program in partnership with Entangled Solutions, Davidson College, and other colleges. Students learned intro-level coding and web design; three Scripps students participated. Program will continue to be offered to students during the academic year through SAGE.
Fall 2019 hires: Dr. Doug Goodwin, Fletcher Jones Scholar in Computation, and Dr. Christina Edholm, a math tenure-track position with expertise in computation.
New minors at Scripps: The CS implementation team continues to explore the possibility of offering a minor in computer science; faculty are also proposing a data science minor, delivered to the FEC this semester.
CS-related workshops for faculty interested in implementing CS into courses/research are being explored.
In partnership with CP&R, a CS-centered Scripps alumnae panel will be offered to students this spring. Funding is being provided by the Oshita Fund.
