Heather Waldroup: "Tattooing in Polynesia: Past and Present"

There is a long, rich history of tattooing among the indigenous peoples of New Zealand, French Polynesia, and Easter Island. Contemporary tattooing in these areas is part of a broader cultural revival in indigenous arts, a context which Heather Waldroup, Visual Materials Curator and CLIR Postdoctoral Fellow at the Libraries of the Claremont Colleges, illustrates in her presentation.
