Martha Gonzalez has long believed in music as a tool for social change. As assistant professor of Chicana/o Latina/o studies at Scripps College and lead singer and composer of East LA rock band Quetzal, Gonzalez tells stories of resistance, survival, resilience, and, most important, transformation. The grammy-winning Chican@ rock band is featured in a recent article in LA Weekly that highlights the dynamic music and lyrics of Gonzalez and the band’s recently released album, The Eternal Getdown.
