Hao Huang Reflects on COVID-19’s Environmental Effects in EnviroLab Asia

Hao Huang, Bessie and Cecil Frankel Chair of Music and professor of music, published a paper examining COVID-19’s environmental effects in EnviroLab Asia, The Claremont Colleges’ journal of Asia and the environment. Huang argues that zoonotic diseases such as COVID-19 “are linked to environmental change and human behavior. Mining, logging and farming contaminate or destroy wildlife habitats, forcing wild animals into confined or unfamiliar environs that are likely to induce stress or even sickness.”
