Scripps Faculty Take Over WAMC’s Academic Minute

Scripps College faculty will be featured daily during the week of February 1, 2021, on WAMC Northeast Public Radio’s Academic Minute, a daily podcast dedicated to condensed updates on groundbreaking research. Hosted by Lynn Pasquerella, president of the Association of American Colleges and Universities, Academic Minute features a different professor each day, drawing experts from top research institutions. WAMC is a member of National Public Radio (NPR).

Hao Huang, professor of music and Bessie and Cecil Frankel Chair in Music, discusses environmentalism in Balinese music; Associate Professor of Chicanx/Latinx Studies Martha Gonzalez offers methods for protecting participatory music and dance from a culture of monetization; and Associate Professor of Biology Gretchen Edwalds-Gilbert explores how cells respond to stress at the molecular level. In addition Professor of Philosophy Yuval Avnur delves into the effects of online echo chambers, and Professor of Politics Nancy Neiman examines the intersection of economic markets and social justice.
